Big Bank Alternative is a financial platform that educates and provides a referral service to low income individuals.
I was one of two product designers on this project. I was involved during the discovery, ideation, and design phase of this project.
The clients came to us looking to build a platform that would offer financial resources and opportunities.
I conducted a competitive analysis across similar platforms with a focus on feature sets and key pages. I reverse engineered sitemaps for a few competitors, which helped us structure Big Bank Alternative.
In order to understand the scope of the product, as well as the relationship between the product’s services and its users, I built out this graph. It highlights the customer/advertiser interactions, gated content, and various resources. It provided the basis for the user flows in the next phase of planning.
With the information architecture planned out, I built a user flow diagram to visualize typical paths that the user may take.
At this point, the clients requested some changes to the architecture.
All financial opportunities needed to be available in pre-signup, in addition to new features in post-signup.
I split the work of wireframing, prototyping, and design with the other product designer. The pages below represent a portion of my work.
I developed UI elements based off the exciting aesthetics that our art director curated. I utilized playful textures to break up the elements and used bold colors to create interest.
Designing Big Bank Alternative taught me a lot about the necessary steps it takes to build a product like this from the ground up. It’s given me confidence that I can take on another project of this magnitude.
